KASBAHS ROUTE from Marrakech to Merzouga
Route 1:
Departure from the riad hotel La Maison Nomade in Marrakech via the
Tizi-n-Tichka pass to Ait Benhaddou, then to Ouarzazate. If you wish,
you can visit the international film studios there, Kasbah Skoura
and the rose city of Kelaá M’Gouna to Bomane du Dades.
Overnight stay.
The next day, make a big tour through the Dades and Todra Gorge, and
return via Tinerhir to Kelaá M’Gouna. Overnight stay.
The third day, return to Marrakech. Further stops upon request.
Route
2:
Like Route 1, but after Tinerhir you will continue on the 1000 Kasbahs
Route to Merzouga. From Merzouga, you go to the dunes of Erg Chebbi
on camels, spend the night with a Nomade family in a bivouac in the
desert. The next day, you return to Marrakech (about 8 hours), or stop
in Tinerhir of Kelaá M’Gouna if you wish and return to
Marrakech afterwards.
The team of La Maison Nomade will plan the route together with you -
duration, distance, overnight stays etc. We know almost all the good
accommodations along the route and only recommend hotels that have really
been tested.
The round trip through the Dades and Todra Gorge is only possible with
an SUV, since part of the route is inaccessible for regular cars. Of
course, you can also visit the Dades and Todra Gorge with normal cars,
but a round trip will be impossible.
We recommend you to take an SUV with a driver. Firstly, you will be
more relaxed and secondly, possible risks will have to be borne by the
driver. In addition to this, our drivers have been instructed to take
only the routes and only go to the hotels and sights we have recommended
to prevent “baksheesh-hunters” and false guides from “serving”
our guests.
An SUV with a driver costs 140.- Euros a day. The driver takes care
of his own food and accommodation.
